Provided by YP.comI LOVE DR BENITO...he has saved my cat Ajax when he was ill ...better than having to go to a "large" overpriced hospital..where they have new doctors every other week...grateful to him...going to have to go today because my senior cat is ill...hoping he can make her well 16ish ...hoping all she needs is an antibiotic only...small town doctor good for regular visits ..never had to use him yet for any major surgeries ....

CC-2, maybe the vet thought you were a responsible dog owner that gave the dog tick and flea medicine and would have mentioned the presence of a tick prior to the symptoms. Do you go to your doctor with a pain but don't mention symptoms, ie my head hurts but fail to mention the fact you were in a car accident? Didn't think so. As far as X-ray machines, many vets don't have them because of cost. And Lyme does cause swelling of the joints, so your failure to inform your vet led to a proper diagnosis based on the information he was given. And if you didn't find any ticks then you are a neglectful dog owner because you should check frequently during tick season, especially of your dogs been in the woods. Don't fault a professional for your mistakes.
I brought my dog in when she was limping. Although it wasn't broken, the doctor just seemed to look at it and told me she has arthritis. He predetermined this without any other tests. When I asked about an x-ray, he told me they don't have an x-ray machine. What kind of veterinarian does not have an x-ray machine?!He gave me pills for her and we left. Since then she has had the same problem but on different paws. Right now she isn't walking at all and is lethargic, not eating right and has a fever. I took her to her original doctor and as soon as I mentioned her having problems with all 4 legs on and off he told me that is one of the first signs of lyme disease. Why didn't the Dr. in Carlstadt recognize the symptoms??? Now months later and very sick, my dog can be suffering from stage 3 of this disease and harder to cure. I do hope it isn't lymes, won't know until tomorrow morning for the blood work results. NEVER GO TO CARLSTADT ANIMNAL CLINIC....
I've brought all my dogs there for years, very dependable, good prices
