I walked into this restaurant, no one greeted me. Looked at the menu and walked right out. I am Argentinian, honestly I did not even know what was on the menu. Was wondering where the choripan's were at or good old mate tea. Items are very overpriced. I am better off eating at home.

POTENTIAL sickness lurks in the darkness here B A D food handling practices! I witnessed a number of food handling violations. Will phone Health Dept tomorrow and ask them to please explain what IS and what IS NOT acceptable food handling practices.

PLEASE don't eat and drink AND handle MY food. Don't refill those empty sparkling water bottles and PLEASE keep your hands OFF the rim of my glassware.

Food may be tasty but I much prefer to stay well.

Please think twice before making this a place to dine. Now, you eat there at your own risk.

Very unsanitary food handling.

The first time I ate there I observed the bartender using a napkin and his hand to wipe glasses dry. This is against the health dept regulations. I observed one of the cooks eating in the kitchen. Against the health dept regulations. The refil empty sparkling water bottles to serve tap water in. This is against the health dept regulations. Eat there then wonder where you you got sick.

Terrible

I found the restaurant on Urban Spoon, but it didn't say this was FINE DINING. My family and I showed up in jeans and t-shirts which immediately lowered our quality of service. We sat there for over an hour. Our food took 30 minutes to come out and it took over 30 minutes to even get our check, which by the way cost $70!!

This food looks authentic on the menu; being Argentine I was actually impressed. However, once it came out it was cold and tasted terrible. I could have saved myself trouble by going to my grandma's and getting a better tasting, free meal.

The entire staff is either white or Mexican. They shunned us and refused to give us proper service. They asked if we wanted drinks (keep in mind we were with our 8 month old son) and when we said no they didn't even ask if we wanted a soft drink or anything else, instead brought us tap water they put in an empty wine bottle.

The only prompt service we got was when we put down the credit card the waiter shuffled over to grab what he thought was going to be a tip. Where I am from, you EARN a tip.

It was less than mediocre, it was terrible. It was a smack in the face to my home country and I'm embarrassed they serve the people of El Paso and say they are Argentine.

A li'l bit of Argentina in El Paso?

After my friend told me that there was an Argentinian restaurant now in El Paso my husband and I had to go immediately. I asked around to see about eating there, went as far as to calling the restaurant directly. The restaurant has its roots in Mexico, Juarez to be the closest location; the owners are not from Argentina and neither is their chef.

The restaurant itself was beautiful and the service was great. One look at the menu and I saw that they had empanadas and even Chimichurri- When ordering the waiter was going on about how their Chimichurri is delicious and it has 37 ingredients.... Well...they put in 30 more ingredients than what they needed. It was horrible!!!

I would say that the food is a fusion between Mexican and Argentinian food... but in no way is it AUTHENTIC as they claim.. The only thing authentic about the food at Garufa was the name of some of the foods on the menu.

If you want something different other than Mexican food, then go to Garufa, but do not think it is Authentic Argentinian food. We were very disappointed for such an overpriced meal.
