I went in the JKS salon on Basswood for the first time this weekend after getting a last minute party invite. The girl who worked on me was very professional and made me feel glamourous. I would highly recommend this salon to anyone in the area!

Worst Place Ever!!!!

After debating whether or not to try this place, I finally caved in and did and boy was it a HUGE mistake!!!!! Not only did I have a good picture to show of how I wanted my LONG hair, with long layers, and not only did I pay extra for a SENIOR person who charged EXTRA for long hair, but somehow I ended up with my hair above my shoulders and hardly any layering AT ALL!!!! I'm sooo frustrated!!!! Why is it so hard to find anyone these days???? Do not go there!!! It's a waste of money and your time!!!!!!

I went to the JKS in Keller off of basswood and it was my first time. I was referred to a beautician named Chance and at first I was kind of nervous because of his crazy hair and the fact that he has only been doing hair for four years. But once we got to talking, I totally changed my first thoughts of this young man. Not only was he kind, generous, and thoughtful; he knew exactly what I was wanting and thinking before I even got there. I have a TON of hair and with my past experiences in salons, the beauticians always try to rush doing my hair and not take their time, but not Chance. He took his time and even lost a walk-in client to stay with me and finish. This was by far the best gamble I've ever taken going into a new salon. So I guess the saying is right, don't judge a book by its cover. Thanks Chance! See you soon! -Amy

Worst experience

I moved from Georgia a year ago and was not sure where to get a hair cut. JKS was close to where I live and seemed like an upscale salon, at least when judging from prices.

I got an appointment with Betsy. I had a chin length bob, almost all hair one length. All I asked for was few long layers around the face and at the sides of my head to have more fulness above ears. I even brought a picture with me to demonstrate, what exactly I wanted. She hardly looked at the picture and I got an impression she didn't listen to me either. It seemed strange to me that she didn't cover my shoulders to protect my clothes while washing my hair on the first place. My blouse become wet but I didn't say anything. The real shock came later when I noticed her cutting short layers on the top of my head! I wanted to yell but realized it was too late. As the result I got a cut which I always had hated the most - short crop with 3 inch layers on the top and back! It was really important to me to have long layers on the back of my head because I have unusual parting there. It was covered by my 11 inch length layers. Now the parting is in sight again. I absolutely hate the cut I got and will never go back to this salon again.

I went to JKS for cut/color/highlight. They run an ad in the local newspaper stating $66 for cut/

color or cut/highlight. My hair is shoulder length (barely touches shoulder). I got the cut/color/highlight, bought 1 hair product, and was presented a bill for $200!!! When I questioned the cost I was told that was for hair as short as a mens style. Mine was considered long. The person that did my hair did an outstanding job. The only thing preventing me from giving a 5 star rating is the cost. Next time I think I will do just color/cut $100 and buy my hair product elsewhere.
